Media Outreach Resources

This resource package includes the following items:

  • Media Outreach One-Pager: This one-pager gives a brief overview of all of the resources included in the Media Outreach Toolkit. Use this at the beginning of your media outreach journey to get a basic understanding of how to start the process.
  • Job Corps Radio PSA Scripts: The scripts can be sent to local radio stations with the hope that the stations will share them over the air as PSAs for free. Keeping in mind that Job Corps serves 16- through 24-year-olds, be sure to share these ads with stations that are popular among Gen Z’ers as well as their parents and guardians. Ask the students at your center which stations they listen to, and include them in creating the media list. If radio stations offer only paid ads, contact jobcorpsmaterials@mpf.com for assistance with securing paid placements.
  • Media Outreach Tips Sheet: The tips sheet walks through nine tips for media outreach success. Refer to this piece when reaching out to the media to ensure that you are checking all your bases.
  • Media Release Template: The Media Release Template is a guide that center staff can use when pitching a release to the media. Share the personalized release with local newspapers, television and radio stations, and online media (e.g., community websites). If you need assistance building a local media list for your area, please reach out to MP&F at jobcorpsmaterials@mpf.com.
  • Sample Media Advisory: A media advisory is a tool you can use to provide quick “who, what, when, where and why” information to your local media contacts. The sample media advisory is an example of how to promote a recruitment event to the media. Use this as a guide when you have a large-scale event coming up that the media should be invited to.
